CANIDAE Opens Announces New Pet Food Plant in Texas
CANIDAE Natural Pet Food Company announced today the unveiling of its new pet food manufacturing facility named Ethos Pet Nutrition located in Brownwood, Texas.
In March 2011, the company purchased an existing extrusion plant and, according to their Director of Operations Frank Hon, has spent the last year, “…completely re-building the facility to be the most modern natural pet food plant of its kind.”
The pet food plant will feature the latest advancements in modern production and laboratory equipment. Led by CANIDAE co-founder Scott Whipple and a talented team of pet food professionals, Ethos Pet Nutrition will be running final production tests next month.
The Texas plant will feature an onsite quality and safety laboratory and an advanced automated extrusion system all designed to produce the most nutritious natural pet foods possible, with a focus on safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Addressing their distributors and retailers, CANIDAE co-founders John Gordon and Scott Whipple stated, “Since we started CANIDAE our goal has always been to make the highest quality pet foods possible. Your continued support of our products within the industry has allowed us to take this next step in our company’s growth.”
More information about the company’s new facility will be made available after the final quality assurance trials are completed.
CANIDAE Sponsors the Deep Freeze Disc Trial
CANIDAE Natural Pet Foods sponsored the Deep Freeze Disc Trial hosted by Angela Ewtushik and Rick Rawerda, two of our CANIDAE sponsored disc dog teams.
CANIDAE’s Eastern Canada Sales Manager Caroline Petterson who attended the event said, “The venue, Quardream Equestrian Centre in in Mount Forest Ontario, was awesome! With over 70 dogs in attendance, the event was well attended, which speaks volumes to the hard work both Rick and Angela put into hosting this event.
Thank you Angela and Rick for asking us to sponsor such a great trial. I enjoyed watching the dogs and handlers doing their routines in freestyle and going the distance in the D/A.”
First Show for CANIDAE in the United Kingdom – PATS Sandown in Surrey
On March 20th and 21st Sandown Racecourse was the site of the PATS show to the pet industry trade. This picturesque venue is located in the town of Esher, about 20 miles southwest of central London. PATS 2012, UK’s biggest pet trade show, is only in the fourth year since its inception in 2009. In that short time the number of show visitors has doubled. Attendance in 2012 was 13.5% higher than in 2011 and the number of visitors from outside the UK from as far away as Australia and Hong Kong showed a 22% increase.
As a first-time exhibitor and US company, CANIDAE attracted many visitors to their booth. Frank Hon, Director of Operations, Manny Rosillo, Global Sales Manager, and Barbara Rosillo, Global Sales Assistant, explained the benefits of CANIDAE’s super premium foods. Health-conscious pet owners and retailers asked detailed questions about how CANIDAE formulas, especially our grain free pureElements and pureSea, provide the best quality nutrition for their pets.
PATS was an excellent opportunity for CANIDAE to gain exposure of our brand among the general public. CANIDAE was sought out at the show by a major UK distributor and talks are promising that CANIDAE will be marketed in this territory very soon.
CANIDAE Announces FELIDAE Kibble Shape Change
Same Great Formulations, Same Great Taste. Just a New Round Kibble.
The meows are in! When cats were asked to choose from many different shapes of kibble, they gave two paws up to round, again and again! As a result, CANIDAE Natural Pet Food Company has decided to change the shape of FELIDAE Cat & Kitten, Chicken & Rice and FELIDAE PLATINUM® kibble for cats to a simple round circle. Our two Grain Free FELIDAE kibble formulas – pureSEA™ and pureELEMENTS™ – already feature this round shape cats prefer most.
We want to make it very clear, however, that although the shape of FELIDAE kibble will soon be changing, all of our premium-quality formulas will remain exactly the same. Rest assured – the formulations and every quality ingredient that is currently in the kibble will still be the same in the new round-shaped kibble. The food will still provide the same high quality, natural nutrition for cats and kittens, just in an improved, new round shape that felines favor over other shapes. We believe your cats will love FELIDAE cat food even more than they already do.
Repeat testing has shown this is the shape cats love the most. Also, this new round shape results in less kibble breakage, which means fewer crumbs and less “kibble dust” at the bottom of the bag!
A scientific study was done with five different kibble shapes including an X (cross/star), a triangle, a triangle with a hole, a cylinder, and a round “O” shaped flat disc. The study determined that cats overwhelmingly prefer round kibble over any of the other shapes.

Our members were very impressed and appreciative of the contribution.
The USPCA is a Domestic Non-Profit Organization established to unite in common causes all law enforcement agencies utilizing the services of the canine as an aid in the prevention and detection of crime. It promotes friendship and brotherhood among all those interested in the training and utilization of the canine in police work; and to establish a minimum-working standard and improve the abilities of the canine in police work, thereby rendering better service to the community.

CANIDAE Reports Strong Growth for Asian Market on Visit to Hong Kong and South Korea
“Personal visits with distributors worldwide are important to maintaining good communication and relationships, and developing strategies for growth,” states Manny Rosillo, CANIDAE Global Sales Manager. With these objectives in mind, Rosillo traveled to Hong Kong and South Korea this October.
Linda Chan and Murphy Wu, owners of Rog Trading Company located in Hong Kong, distribute CANIDAE pet food in Hong Kong and Greater China. Located in Seoul, CANIDAE’s South Korean distributor is N.D. Pet, owned by Mr. Jeongsoo Kim. Rosillo expressed CANIDAE’s appreciation to Rog Trading and N.D. Pet for their efforts and expertise, which have resulted in year to date growth for both distributors that surpasses the comparable figures for 2010 by a wide margin.
Based on years of experience with CANIDAE in their markets and with a view to projects for 2012 discussed with Rosillo, N.D. Pet and Rog Trading feel confident that they will close 2011 well above their target goals for growth and will maintain the same rate of growth in 2012.
Rosillo had the opportunity to visit the facilities of Rog Trading and N.D. Pet. Their well-stocked warehouses and operations are impressive. Rosillo wishes to thank Ms. Chan, Mr. Wu and Mr. Kim for their gracious and warm hospitality and making him feel “at home” in their countries.

CANIDAE Participates in the Centenary World Dog Show in Paris
If you were in Paris, France, from July 7th to July 10th, you would have found CANIDAE mingling with the “elite”. These blue bloods were the 38,000 pedigreed dogs from 69 countries that came to strut their stuff and compete in the French and the World Championships at the centenary World Dog Show during four days. Hosting 25,000 visitors and 22,000 dog exhibitors was the Parc des Expositions of Paris Nord Villepinte, a venue with 100,000 square meters of exhibition area and 100 show rings.
Kennel clubs, regional dog societies, breed clubs and 240 stand exhibitors filled the areas around the rings. Manny Rosillo, CANIDAE International Sales Manager and Barbara Rosillo, International Sales Assistant, greeted visitors to the CANIDAE booth and promoted the benefits of all our natural, super-premium pet foods. Yes, a good number of dog owners at the show also have cats in their families. Many visitors brought along their non-competing dogs for an outing, although, prudently, cats stayed home, and the possibility of havoc was averted!
The French public were very eager to have CANIDAE available in stores in their country. In addition to dog lovers and CANIDAE customers from all over Western Europe to Russia and Ukraine, visitors from Turkey, Australia, Japan, and Taiwan and even from “back home”, the USA and Canada, stopped by our booth. Their comments confirm that CANIDAE is a globally recognized brand.
The next World Dog Show, which is an annual event, will take place May 18th to 20th, 2012, in Salzburg, Austria.
