CANIDAE Sponsored Raffle at Sea Otter Classic in Monterey Raised Funds for Canine Cancer Research - Raffle Winner Selected

CANIDAE sponsored a raffle to benefit the fight against pet cancer at the 2009 Sea Otter Classic bicycle race in Monterey, California. We have several enthusiastic cycling fans on the CANIDAE Team who encouraged us to show up at the event and donate a grand prize for charity. The response was even larger than our first charity bike race raffle at 2009 Amgen Tour of California event this past February.

Mr. Jeff Rojas of Campbell, California, an avid mountain biker of 12 years, attended the Sea Otter Classic bike race that kicked off April 16 and ran for four days. He purchased a CANIDAE Sea Otter Bike Raffle ticket because he was enthusiastic about supporting cancer research in pets, and was also hopeful he would win the Felt Q720 bike that CANIDAE donated to the event.

In a drawing held at the end of the race, Mr. Rojas' entry was selected at random as the winner of the Felt bike. CANIDAE raffle organizer, Jason Castillo said, "Jeff was very surprised when we informed him he had won the bike. Like many of us here at CANIDAE, he is a long-time rider and fan of the sport. We spoke with hundreds of race fans like Jeff at our booth and found that most have pets and share values similar to ours concerning an active lifestyle and a healthy diet. When race fans saw that our raffle was for a canine cancer cancer charity, they seemed very willing to support the cause."

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the raffle will be sent to the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation to fund cancer research. Combined with the additional funds donated at the Family Pet Expo in Costa Mesa, CA, the cash donation to the Canine Health Foundation will be several thousand dollars. Nothing is more central to the core values of CANIDAE than the health, happiness and well being of pets.
