It was a beautiful October weekend in the Southeast when three CANIDAE teams converged at the award winning Pet Essentials pet store in Charlotte, North Carolina. Crowds gathered even as the dock diving pool was being rolled out, asking when the excitement was going to begin. They had read the Carolina Dock Dogs club banners that stated this was "Where Dogs Get Excited" and they did not want to miss it.
Friday saw the reunion of old and new friends as Dan and Jean Jacobs of Team Missy met up with their old friend John Grosse. They introduced him to Jay and Deb Harris of Team Indian Creek who then introduced Lynda Crammer. It was a good old southern meet and greet. With all the introductions over it was time to get to work as a multitude of dogs and their owners had shown up to "give the sport a try."
The competition began on Saturday and the CANIDAE sponsored teams of Team Missy and Team Indian Creek did not disappoint the spectators. Showing off their new CANIDAE jumping vests, Kasey, Sir Harley and Missy wowed the crowd with all three dogs surpassing the 22 foot mark in the Big Air distance competition, which qualified them all for the Elite Division Finals on Sunday. To finish off an already exciting day of competition, both teams entered Extreme Vertical where dogs attempt to grab a bumper suspended 8 feet out from the end of the dock with the bumper increasing in height with each grab.
Both CANIDAE sponsored teams again showed their stuff as Mr. Bentley, a young upcoming star of Team Indian Creek, took home 1st place honors with Team Missy members Kasey and Missy finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. The height Mr. Bentley jumped was only surpassed by the leap made by Jay when his young Chocolate Lab set a new personal best to take the win.
Sunday saw an all CANIDAE Elite Division Finals round with Kasey of Team Missy taking home the bragging rights, and Sir Harley of Team Indian Creek taking 2nd while Missy took 3rd.
Other divisional finals saw members of Team Indian Creek bringing home awards with Mr. Bentley placing 2nd in the Senior Division and Cassie Girl placing 2nd in the Junior Division of Big Air.
Oh, and that third team from CANIDAE, John Grosse and Lynda Crammer? They became honorary members of both Team Indian Creek and Team Missy, sharing in the enthusiasm of the event, passing out CANIDAE "goodies," and educating the many dog owners about the benefits of CANIDAE All Natural dog food. "Team East Coast" used the CANIDAE sponsored teams as examples of athletic dogs with outstanding physique and beautiful coats who are fed a superb all natural dog food.
The entire event was a tremendous success for all involved. Both Team Indian Creek and Team Missy would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to John and Lynda and the rest of Team CANIDAE for their continued support.
