CANIDAE Pet Foods has received a 2010 Exporter of the Year award from Commercial News USA, the official export promotion magazine of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Recognized as a leading American producer of nutritionally dense pet foods known for high quality ingredients, the CANIDAE family of dog and cat foods include natural skin and coat conditioners, vegetables and fruits, and are all naturally preserved.
“Export sales have increased year over year ever since CANIDAE began exporting its products in 1999,” said Manny Rosillo, International Sales Manager of the CANIDAE International Division. “From the sheer number of emails we receive requesting information on our products and their availability internationally, it is clear there is a worldwide demand for an all natural, premium pet food. We are very pleased that we can supply this demand through our international distributors in more than 31 countries.”
CANIDAE Pet Foods was founded based on the belief that pets deserve foods made from all natural, holistic ingredients. CANIDAE entered the market with two single-formulation foods,CANIDAE All Life Stages Formula for dogs, and FELIDAE Cat & Kitten Formula for cats. These products were unique to the market in that they provided four protein sources — chicken, turkey, lamb, and fish — in a formula that contains no corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions or fillers. From this simple beginning, the CANIDAE family of pet products has become recognized around the world as the pet food preferred by health-conscious pet owners.
“Pet lovers respond very favorably to the fact that our products are made in the USA,” said Rosillo. “The Exporter of the Year award is a wonderful recognition and a boost to our growth in the international markets of our industry.”
Commercial News USA is a magazine that reaches more than a quarter million readers in 176 countries worldwide. Awards were given to one U.S. company in each of 11 industry categories. CANIDAE All Natural Pet Foods was named Exporter of the Year in the Consumer Goods category. All Exporter of the Year award winners will be profiled in the May-June 2010 issue of the magazine.
Criteria on which winners were selected included the total number of documented export transactions completed in 2008, the total percentage increase in sales in 2008 compared to 2007, exports as percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service, and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services.
Gregory Sandler, publisher of Commercial News USA, said that the success of CANIDAE indicates clearly how American companies can benefit from exporting. “American companies that want to grow and to expand beyond their current trading areas need to consider opportunities outside of the U.S.,” said Sandler. “World markets offer real potential for U.S. exporters.”
