This is an excellent opportunity for the right professional to make an impact on our business, while growing their own business and career, as an Independent Sales Consultant. Based in the Calgary area, this person will be responsible for sales of the Company's entire product line at an Independent Distribution Level within their territory, which includes British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Overnight travel of at least 50% is required in this position. The successful candidate will be an Independent Consultant and not an Employee of the Company.

The person we are seeking will be an energetic and ambitious professional, with the capability to effectively communicate our vision and purpose in the Pet Food Industry. He/she will be very detail oriented, a solid negotiator, possess tactical agility, and have a passion to gain more market share for the finest natural pet food in the Industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Developing a consistent and profitable growth rate that includes total volume sales as well as each product line category within the assigned territory. This will require becoming extremely knowledgeable about all of our product line in order to educate Retail Stores and Consumers.
  • Providing on the spot education/information to our Retail and Consumer customers regarding our entire product line, as well as key messaging we want to convey. Participating in trade shows, exhibitions, special events, and company meetings. Responding to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conducting group seminars to Key Accounts to ensure they are fully aware of each offering in our diverse product line. Applying our proven techniques to promote sales growth. Working with our Sales and Distributor reps to drive sales growth by promoting team work and mutual goals.
  • Prioritizing key retail accounts within the territory and working with our District Sales Manager to develop an effective routing and call frequency strategy. Identifying opportunities to develop new business within the territory. Maintaining and executing an efficient quad planner and sales call cycle to ensure accounts are seen and developed as required.
  • Proactive salesmanship at each store for maximum exposure and turnover of our products, to include but not limited to; building displays, rotating stock, maintaining clean shelves, replenishment of out of stock products, and ensuring accurate pricing consistent with current promotional activities. Qualifications required:
  • College degree preferred, or 2 years of experience in the Pet Industry, or 4 years of sales experience. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, with the capability to work effectively with Retailers, Consumers, Sales Management, and Company Employees.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work effectively in a fast paced environment. Possess strong analytical skills and the ability to take information and translate it into actionable items. Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, this position provides administrative and secretarial support for the vice president and department. In addition to typing, filing and scheduling, the AA assists with duties such as financial record keeping, coordination of meetings and conferences, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

Human Resource Duties

  • Manage organization's safety efforts, including serving as Safety and Compliance Coordinator.
  • Maintains lofty standards/ of confidentiality of all employee records and information.
  • Establishes, develops, maintains and updates filing system for the vice president and the department. Retrieves information from files when needed.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information and explains policies when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Engagement and Loyalty Representative is responsible for receiving and placing telephone calls, emails and digital communication. The ELR, cultivates, engages, and maintains ongoing customer relationships. Uses computerized system for tracking calls, logging information, and handling fulfillment needs.
