Conformation / Show Dogs
Simpatico Weimaraners
February 2010
We began our journey with Weimaraners in 1989 with two wonderful pets, Cade and Bess. After two short years of experience with the Weimaraner breed, we felt the need to be more involved and decided to enter the dog show world. To our great fortune, we went to Tom Wilson of Smokey City Weimaraners for our first show puppy and the rest, as they say, is history. Since that time, we have shown, trained, conditioned, and loved many Weimaraners, handling many to their ACK Championships. One special thrill along the way was our ownership of "Smokey City Hail Mary" from 2002-2005. In that period, she held the #1 Weimaraner position, was a 6 time BIS winner, WCA National specialty winner, and #6 sporting dog in the country. Our eternal thanks to Bob Double for handling Mary to such phenomenal success.
We currently enjoy the company of 7 Weimaraners in our home ages 6 months to 8 years. Six are finished AKC Champions and one is on her way. "Dharma", AKA "Smoky City Devil May Care" is the most accomplished of our current pack. She finished with all majors, winning Best of Breed from the classes and her first Sporting Group win at 14 months at the prestigious Morris and Essex dog show.
Campaigned exclusively as an Owner Handled Best of Breed competitor in 2006 and 2007, she compiled the following record: 4 All Breed Best in Shows, 2 Sporting Dog Best in Shows, 10 Specialty wins, 40 plus Group 1's and finished 2006 as the #13 sporting dog in the country. Dharma has also added a "Novice Shooting Dog" field title to her list accomplishments.
A considerable portion of her success in the show ring is attributable to her outstanding physical condition. Both judges and spectators frequently comment on her shiny, smooth coat and outstanding muscle tone. And it's not just Dharma that receives the compliments.
All of our dogs get noticed, whether in the ring, on the sidewalk or at the Vet. People want to know what we do to keep everyone looking so healthy and vital. It is a two part formula: for part one, we make sure all the dogs run or walk at least 3 miles a day, EVERY DAY and have other physical outlets to expend all of the energy they desire; part two is CANIDAE All Life Stages. It provides all the energy and nutrients our highly active dogs require to look and feel their best in and out of the show ring.
There's no doubt we are a "Show Dog" home, but our dogs live in our home and are a part of the family. From puppyhood to their senior years, CANIDAE is the only food we use. We commend CANIDAE for their research into canine nutrition and producing a food that gives our dogs that "special something".
We also take great comfort in the fact the CANIDAE, because of their commitment to quality and safety, was one of the few U.S. pet food manufacturers untouched by the toxic contamination debacle in 2007 emanating from China. We are indeed honored to be among "CANIDAE's Special Achievers" and part of the CANIDAE Team.
UPDATE 2009: GOT the new food!!!!!! Many Many Thanks!!!!! We are very excited about the Grain Free -- I know they are going to love it!! Last weekend, Simpatico Weimaraners had a big weekend -- Our Bred-by Bitch "Sizzle" (Ch. Simpatico Au Courant a Chaud; first picture above) won the BREED from the classes at the Washington DC specialty, defeating the #1 Weim in the country only to follow 2 days later with our young special "Justice" defeating the # 1 Weim the same weekend!! Comments from the judges: GREAT COAT AND BODY CONDITION -- Yeah CANIDAE!!!
UPDATE January 2010: Our Justice finished 2009 in the #7 position for Weimaraners and is contemplating getting in the whelping box soon. Sizzle is our current star and has already won several Weimaraner Specialties and is already receiving group placements. They love the CANIDAE Grain Free foods!
UPDATE February 2010: Sizzle showed at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show at Madison Square Garden and was in the line-up for the final consideration. She was photographed for and appeared on the MSNBC, LA Times, and Houston Chronicle websites and many others. The winner was a dog co-bred by us, so it was a very good day!
THANK YOU!!!!!
Jennifer & Curtis

Ray Vaturro and Betsy Wade-Vaturro
January 2010
Ray Vaturro and Betsy Wade-Vaturro are the proud owners of Bram, a three year old Norwegian Elkhound they show in A.K.C. conformation. Bram, whose official name is BISS Ch. Silverdal's Royal Tribute, has had quite a few accomplishments in his young life. Bram was awarded Best of Breed at the 2006 Norwegian Elkhound Association of America National Specialty by Norwegian judge, Mr. Arild Berget. Bram finished 2006 as the #1 Norwegian Elkhound in breed points. His latest accolade was being invited to the Westminster Kennel Club in February 2007. It was Bram's and his owners first trip to Westminster. There he was awarded the only Award Of Merit to be given to a Norwegian Elkhound that day by Judge Mr. Randy Garren (pictured with Ray and Bram).
Ray and Betsy began showing dogs in 1998 with their first Norwegian Elkhound and started their breeding program in 2003. Betsy states "We started feeding our first dog CANIDAE ALS dry food in 2000. We noticed a marked change in the condition of his coat. We've been giving our dogs CANIDAE ever since and are very happy with the results". When the Vaturros are asked what food they feed their dog, they are happy to spread the news about their success with CANIDAE, whether the person asking is a show person or a pet owner.
UPDATE: Bram won two more Hound Group Three placements at the recent Claremore KC of Oklahoma and the Kokomo KC of Indiana.
UPDATE 2009: It's been a great year for Bram! He received the first Award of Merit at the N.E.A.A. National Specialty in May and has had several group placements. He is Top Ten in All-Breed competition for Norwegian Elkhounds. The Vaturros are proud of his continued success!

Citrus Hill Canine Center
January 2010
CANIDAE has been instrumental in the success of the dogs that I am training and competing with. I can not say enough about how this food enhances the energy, drive, and coats in my dogs.
Here at Citrus Hill Canine Center we train and compete with dogs from nearly every Group. I started in Retrievers in the Sporting Group and mainly handle Flat-Coated Retrievers at this time. I also co-own, train and compete with an Irish Red and White Setter that was just recognized in 2009 into the Sporting Group as well. I also handle a Golden Retriever from Conformation lines as well as a Golden Retriever from Field lines. Additionally in the mix are Portuguese Water Dogs from the Working Group, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Dachshunds from the Hound Group, Standard Poodles from the Non-Sporting Group, and a Boston Terrier from the Terrier Group.
Big dogs, little dogs, different body styles and coat types, all are doing well and thriving on CANIDAE. I can’t say enough how this food helps these dogs achieve their true potential. My catch phrase at my center is “Producing truly versatile dogs.” and this food has helped these dogs maintain energy levels to accomplish this.
We compete in all different venues in the American Kennel Club. Agility is our focus. But nearly all of the dogs are Conformation Champions as well and have been campaigned in the Conformation Ring with multiple Best of Breed and Group wins. I also compete in the hunting field with the retrievers, and in the Obedience ring, and the Rally ring with nearly everyone else.
We had some huge successes in 2009 alone:
“Magic”, Flat-Coated Retriever (CH MACH 6 Shasta Belstar Magic Happens JH, CDX, RA) earned both his MACH 5 and his MACH 6 to become the 3rd ever Flat Coated Retriever to earn this high level of Master Agility Champion. Magic is consistently ranked in the Top 5 Flat Coats in the Nation.
”Tripper”, Irish Red and White Setter (CH Affinity Day Tripper MX, MXJ, RN) earned both his Master Standard and Master Jumpers with Weaves Agility Titles to become the #1 Ranked Agility Red and White in the Nation. Tripper also won a GROUP 4 SPORTING GROUP at the Orange Empire KC in addition to his multiple Best of Breed wins to earn him a #2 Ranked Conformation Red and White in the Nation.
Tripper’s biggest win was at the Eukanuba National Invitational in Long Beach 2009 where he won BEST OF BREED to become the first Irish Red and White of record to earn these honors.
Thank you CANIDAE for helping these wonderful dogs achieve their true potential and become “truly versatile dogs”

Apollo / Castile Pomeranians
January 2010
“Apollo” is proud to be a member of the CANIDAE Team. Apollo is a wonderful representative of the Pomeranian breed and a testament to good health and nutrition. At Castile Pomeranians, we have fed CANIDAE dry food for the greater part of our 9 years, occasionally trying other brands, but always coming back. The first time we tried CANIDAE, it was because we wanted an all natural, high quality, holistic alternative that all of the dogs, from puppies to seniors, could eat and liked to eat. Poms can be finicky eaters, but none of our dogs turn down the CANIDAE Grain Free All Life Stages that we feed now. People tend to forget that Pomeranians are more than just lapdogs, that they were bred down from Northern-type sled dogs. Thus, good nutrition is the foundation for building strong, healthy dogs with beautiful coats.
Apollo, BIS Ch. Castile’s Endless Love HOF is a very special dog. His sire “Laser,” BIS Ch. Glen Iris Evian d’Castile (co-bred with Cheryl Jackson, Lawrence Myers, and Isabel Taylor and co-owned with Dr. Jackson) was my first “bred-by exhibitor” champion, winning three bred-by best in shows along the way. Laser then went to Europe for a year, winning multiple groups, two best in shows, championships in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Finland, and a Baltic and FCI International championship. After being named “Dog of the Year” in Estonia for 2007, he promptly became a group winner back here in the States.
Apollo’s dam, Ch. Glen Iris Duchess of Castile ROMS, my first show Pom and best friend, died while whelping his litter of three. The pups were kept alive by tube feeding until they could be driven to Ohio two days later to Nina Fetter, who had a foster mom who took them until they could be weaned. All three went on to finish AKC conformation titles, but I had a feeling about Apollo, who was the smallest and not really expected to survive. He lived, and I finished him from the bred-by class and even won a surprising bred-by Group 3 at the 2008 AKC National Championship.
After that very rewarding accomplishment, handler and friend Ellen Perry and her son Matthew took him and have kept him in the Top 5 in breed and all-breed points throughout 2009. He has won multiple toy groups and won Best in Show at Maury County in March under working group judge Beverly Bonadonna-Vics. He is occasionally owner-handled, and we recently won a group 1, 2, and 3 in one weekend in a field of handlers, followed by a win over the #1 Pom in the country.
Apollo is well-liked by all. He is beautiful, happy, and exhibits excellent structure and movement that we hope will propel him further over the next year or two. We are excited to be joining CANIDAE in promoting Responsible Pet Ownership, and we proudly recommend CANIDAE Grain Free ALS to all.
UPDATE: Apollo competed in the AKC National Championship in Long Beach, California this December 12th and 13th. Although we did not win best bred-by exhibitor as we did last year, Apollo won an Award of Excellence in the breed competition Saturday, which is a considerable honor [photo above left]. There were over 50 Pomeranians entered from all over the world and from some of the top kennels. Judge Grace Moran had the option of awarding five Awards of Excellence after she awarded Best of Breed to the country's number one pomeranian, Ch. Velocity's Shake Ur Bon Bon (who also placed 4th in the toy group) to dogs she felt deserved recognition. It was a very successful showing for the owner-handled Apollo in the country's largest dog show.
Sincerely,
Geno, Corey, Ellen, Matthew, and Apollo

October 2009
Gemari’s Canaan Dogs is proud to be a CANIDAE Sponsored Team. We have always used CANIDAE All Life Stages to provide the nutrition our pack needs during demanding development periods, maintenance periods, and for superior sustained performance during competition. We currently have nine Canaan Dogs that compete in AKC and UKC events and the results we have achieved for our entire Pack have been amazing.
AKC Ch/UKC (BIMBS) GRCH Cherrysh Sing So Into You, RN, CGC, ICDCA-ROM, VC-“Denver” has been on CANIDAE for over five years and is currently competing in AKC and UKC events. His accomplishments have earned him top honors in both Kennel Clubs and several mentions in breed history. Denver has also earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC’s Top Ten Competition. He is one of just a few Canaan Dogs to ever win a UKC Best In Multi-Breed Show and has also claimed three Reserve Best In Shows. He is the sire of two AKC Champions, one UKC Grand Champion, and four UKC Champions.
AKC/UKC Ch Bless-Ed Be My Neshama, CGC, ICDCA-ROMX, CDCA-ROM-“Shama” has been on CANIDAE for over four years. She is now five years old and has been competing in AKC and UKC events with Denver. Shama has won numerous AKC and UKC Best of Breeds, a UKC Group 1, and has had invitations to national championships. Shama is the dam of three AKC Champions, one UKC Grand Champion, and five UKC Champions.
AKC Ch/UKC GRCH Gemari’s 1st Hope-“Hope” is Denver and Shama’s daughter. She is two years old and has been on CANIDAE since she was able to eat solid foods. She began competing in AKC and UKC events at six months and has already earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC Top Ten Competition. Hope just became the third female to ever earn an AKC Championship and a UKC Grand Championship!
AKC/UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Chance-“Chance" is Denver and Shama’s son. He just turned two years old and has also been competing in AKC and UKC events since he was six months old. He has also earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC Top Ten Competition. Chance has earned many top awards in both Kennel Clubs.
We are also pleased to say that three other pack members have also earned their UKC Championship titles and have also won major awards during our National Specialty cluster shows. Among them are: UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Sunrise-“Sunny”, UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Rose-“Rose”, and UKC Ch Cherrysh Star of Bethlehem-“Beth.” All of them are currently working towards their AKC Championships.
Beth became the dam of four in October. Her puppies have been on CANIDAE since they started stealing her food. We are very excited and look forward to reporting their accomplishments in our next update.
We are so convinced that CANIDAE has been a major part of our Pack’s success that we not only use it, but we recommend it to others.
Thank you for not only helping our Canaans reach their maximum potential, but for the dedication and support you provide to all of us and our companions.
Best Regards,
Melvin Larsen and Michael Banister
