Rocko's Pet Depot of Macomb Township, Michigan

Rocko's Pet Depot in Macomb Township, Michigan has been chosen as the next CANIDAE Featured Retailer for their entrepreneurial spirit and their dedication to customers. Owners Ray and Mary Holdwick opened their Pet Depot franchise in February 2006 and haven't looked back. They named their store after their beloved "Rocko" the youngest of their two dogs.

"At the time of planning Mary and I were unable to have children and our pets were our kids. We both had always wanted our own business and thought it would be great to be in the pet industry since our pets were such a big part of our lives," said Ray. Since opening, Mary became pregnant and the Holdwick's now have a 3-1/2 year old daughter Samantha.

Rocko's Pet Depot is all about customer service! They not only sell the finest premium pet foods available, they are excited to share their knowledge about and passion for pets with their customers. When asked what Ray and Mary's formula for success was, Ray replied simply, "We offer great customer service, quality pet food and supplies." In addition to great pet nutrition and supplies, Rocko's Pet Depot offers expert grooming services, pet adoptions, vet clinics, and dog training.

This June 5th, Rocko's Pet Depot will conduct its first Police K9 Fundraiser which will raise money to purchase bullet proof K9 vests and help set up K9 feeding programs with local Police and Fire Departments. Ray and Mary recently spoke with officials at the Shelby Township Fire Department who chose to switch their dogs to CANIDAE All Life Stages over the other options available.

Ray and Mary's store has become well known in the area not just for their top-notch product knowledge, but their excellent selection, including the entire line of CANIDAE and FELIDAE pet foods. "We love stocking CANIDAE and FELIDAE and hearing our customers tell their friends how great it is. Our sales have increased in CANIDAE year over year and we love the profit margin compared to other brands that we have to discount to stay competitive. Our customers appreciate the great value and performance of CANIDAE."

Promoting pet foods with samples and a system that they developed over the past few years, Ray and Mary learn from their customers by listening to and asking about their pets' needs. Common issues they hear include allergies, medical problems, skin and coat issues, activity levels, and concerns over the cost of a good diet. They respond by recommending the best option for each unique dog or cat.
 
"Time and again, CANIDAE proves to be a great solution for my customers. Our Rep, Jim Brown has even worked with us to create special deals that customers have actually thanked us for. Recently they offered a buy 1 get 1 free sale on CANIDAE Snap-Biscuit treats for dogs which really picked up our sales on treats for existing customers, and encouraged customers new to CANIDAE to try them as well."
