Recognizing CANIDAE Sponsored Animals and Teams
All my dogs and puppies are started on CANIDAE Dog Food at 3 weeks of age. They love the taste of the food and empty their bowls with vigor and enthusiasm. My dogs continue to win in the show circuit from what I feel, is the excellent nutrition they get from CANIDAE Dog Food. Recently, several of my dogs won at a local dog show.
Their muscle tone and coats are clearly in great shape. Nutritionally balanced and vitamin complete. I recommend anyone that wants to make it to the “TOP” feed CANIDAE Dog Food and see the results themselves!
UPDATE June 2011: Thank you CANIDAE! Pure Pride in feeding a fantastic pet food. A new champion at 13 months old. Ch Woodlake’s Kickapoo Special Blend “Latte”. It doesn’t get any better than this! : )
Woodlake Australian Shepherds
We began our journey with Weimaraners in 1989 with two wonderful pets, Cade and Bess. After two short years of experience with the Weimaraner breed, we felt the need to be more involved and decided to enter the dog show world. To our great fortune, we went to Tom Wilson of Smokey City Weimaraners for our first show puppy and the rest, as they say, is history. Since that time, we have shown, trained, conditioned, and loved many Weimaraners, handling many to their ACK Championships. One special thrill along the way was our ownership of “Smokey City Hail Mary” from 2002-2005. In that period, she held the #1 Weimaraner position, was a 6 time BIS winner, WCA National specialty winner, and #6 sporting dog in the country. Our eternal thanks to Bob Double for handling Mary to such phenomenal success.
We currently enjoy the company of 7 Weimaraners in our home ages 6 months to 8 years. Six are finished AKC Champions and one is on her way. “Dharma”, AKA “Smoky City Devil May Care” is the most accomplished of our current pack. She finished with all majors, winning Best of Breed from the classes and her first Sporting Group win at 14 months at the prestigious Morris and Essex dog show.
Campaigned exclusively as an Owner Handled Best of Breed competitor in 2006 and 2007, she compiled the following record: 4 All Breed Best in Shows, 2 Sporting Dog Best in Shows, 10 Specialty wins, 40 plus Group 1’s and finished 2006 as the #13 sporting dog in the country. Dharma has also added a “Novice Shooting Dog” field title to her list accomplishments.
A considerable portion of her success in the show ring is attributable to her outstanding physical condition. Both judges and spectators frequently comment on her shiny, smooth coat and outstanding muscle tone. And it’s not just Dharma that receives the compliments.
All of our dogs get noticed, whether in the ring, on the sidewalk or at the Vet. People want to know what we do to keep everyone looking so healthy and vital. It is a two part formula: for part one, we make sure all the dogs run or walk at least 3 miles a day, EVERY DAY and have other physical outlets to expend all of the energy they desire; part two is CANIDAE All Life Stages. It provides all the energy and nutrients our highly active dogs require to look and feel their best in and out of the show ring.
There’s no doubt we are a “Show Dog” home, but our dogs live in our home and are a part of the family. From puppyhood to their senior years, CANIDAE is the only food we use. We commend CANIDAE for their research into canine nutrition and producing a food that gives our dogs that “special something”.
UPDATE February 2011: We have had an exciting summer. Two beautiful litters and a new superstar emerging! “Sizzle” Ch. Simpatico Au Courrant A Chaud was the “Select Bitch and Judges 1st Award of Merit” at the Weimaraner Club of America National Specialty and won a large specialty in June. We took the summer off for puppies. “Chili” and “Justice” had 13 puppies total and we were busy busy busy! “Cayenne” and “Honor” are our new additions in the picture from those litters. All the puppies thrived on CANIDAE Grain Free All Life Stages and are continuing in their new homes eating and growing like crazy! We picked up showing in October with Grand Ch. Simpatico Silk Pajamas AKA “Paisley” making her debut. She came out swinging winning a specialty and the sporting group, defeating the top three sporting dogs in the country! She has shown selectively and has added another group 1 to her resume. She will be showing at the Westminster Kennel Club Feb 14, 2011 at Madison Square Garden. As always the judges comments are about her superior condition, muscle tone, and shiny coat.
Ray Vaturro and Betsy Wade-Vaturro
Ray and Betsy began showing dogs in 1998 with their first Norwegian Elkhound and started their breeding program in 2003. Betsy states, “We started feeding our first dog CANIDAE All Life Stages dry food in 2000. We noticed a marked change in the condition of his coat. We’ve been feeding our dogs CANIDAE ever since and are very happy with the results”.
Ray Vaturro and Betsy Wade-Vaturro are the proud owners of Bram, a six-year-old Norwegian Elkhound they show in A.K.C. Conformation. Bram, whose official name is GCH. CH. Silverdal’s Royal Tribute, has had quite a few accomplishments in his life. Bram was awarded Best of Breed at the 2006 Norwegian Elkhound Association of America National Specialty by Norwegian judge, Mr. Arild Berget. Bram finished 2006 as the #1 Norwegian Elkhound in Breed points. As such, he was invited to the Westminster Kennel Club in February 2007. It was Bram’s and his owner’s first trip to Westminster. There he was awarded the only Award Of Merit to be given to a Norwegian Elkhound that day by Judge Mr. Randy Garren (pictured with Ray and Bram).
Bram’s other accolades include two National Specialty Award of Merits, five Specialty Best In Show’s and multiple Hound Group placements. In 2010, he was one of the first ten dogs in his breed to complete the Grand Championship title. Bram is once again invited to the Westminster Kennel Club in February 2010 as he is ranked the #2 Norwegian Elkhound in Breed points as of 10/31/10. He also earned his fourth invite to the AKC National Championship. Bram is pictured here at age 6 winning Best of Breed at the Norwegian Elkhound Club of Southeastern Michigan Regional Specialty under Judge Ms. G. Anita Whitmarsh of Sweden.
The Vaturros have two up and coming dogs. “Cory”, CH. Silverdal’s Crown Of Cortez, completed his A.K.C. championship in October 2010 going Best of Winners at the Norwegian Elkhound Association of Minnesota Regional Specialty under Judge Mrs. Sulie Greendale-Paveza (pictured). In addition, “Hope”, Silverdal’s Hope Diamond, is earning points towards her championship and is major pointed.
“We continue to feed our dogs CANIDAE ALS”. When the Vaturros are asked what food they feed their dog, they are happy to spread the news about their success with CANIDAE All Life Stages.
Dog bibs, Drool Cloths, and “There is hair in my food”, are all things you find or hear in our household. Since the Newfoundland is in the working class, our dogs work. From Conformation, Water, Draft or Therapy dog work, we are very active in all aspects of the working world.
Nutrition is the foundation to healthy Newfs, so we feed our dogs CANIDAE Grain Free Salmon Formula. It’s an excellent source of protein and carbs for our giant breed. Along with food and exercise we maintain healthy Newfoundlands. Along with Nutrition, our Newfs are OFA cleared hips, hearts, elbows before they are bred.
Bailee, our first Newfoundland, displays the true ability of a Water Rescue Dog, earning a Water Dog and Water Rescue Dog title her first year of training. Bailee went on the following season to earn her Water Rescue Dog Excellent title by the age of 2. When Bailee is not training in the water she is traveling to various schools as a Delta Therapy Dog. She earned her Delta Complex team rating on her first attempt.
Izzy is an amazing Newfoundland who began her show career at the Northern California Regional Specialty winning Best in Opposite Sex in Puppy Sweepstakes in 2008 at 12 months of age. Izzy continued her Sweepstakes streak by winning Best in Breed Puppy Sweeps at the Southern California Regional Specialty and Best Opposite in Sweepstakes at the San Diego Regional Specialty. She won 3 consecutive California Regional Sweepstakes in a row. Izzy finished her championship and went on to win multiple best of breeds and a Award of Excellence at the AKC National Championship in Long Beach, California.
Gracie was entered in her first dog show at the age of six months and one day to hold a major at the Beverly Hills Kennel Club in Long Beach. She was ungroomed but clean sitting in a crate waiting as a backup entered puppy if the major broke. The major did break and we had enough time to get a collar (backwards) and lead on her as they called in her class. This was the first time Gracie was even on a lead. She took a 4 point major that day. Gracie continued showing and went Best of Winners multiple times, earning her championship at just 11 months.
Zoie came to live in California in February 2010 and became an instant show dog. She won “Best of Breed” puppy and received a Group 3 Puppy at the Tri-Valley Working Show in April 2010. She hopped on a plane and made the top 8 in her class at the NCA National Specialty in sweeps and class at 11 months of age. Recently, she earned back to back majors at the Ventura and Channel City shows, July 2010. Zoie finished her championship in just 4 months.
All of our Newfoundlands are loved and cared for in our home. Their health and care are of the highest priority. CANIDAE food has made showing our dogs easier. We put minimum effort into the coats and all of our dogs are very energetic and love what they do.
UPDATE November 2011: We have been doing so well in the ring. One of our Newfoundlands is still in the top 20. Another of the girls just went AOM/Select and got two Best of Shows at the supported Entry/Regional in Dixon. My female puppy is now ready to show and my 9 year old son took her in Breed at Dixon and last weekend she went Best of Breed at ACDC beating 5 males. I also have an English Cocker Spaniel that is consistently going Best of Winners. That Canidae rocks on their coats!
Citrus Hill Canine Center
CANIDAE has been instrumental in the success of the dogs that I am training and competing with. I can not say enough about how this food enhances the energy, drive, and coats in my dogs.
Here at Citrus Hill Canine Center we train and compete with dogs from nearly every Group. I started in Retrievers in the Sporting Group and mainly handle Flat-Coated Retrievers at this time. I also co-own, train and compete with an Irish Red and White Setter that was just recognized in 2009 into the Sporting Group as well. I also handle a Golden Retriever from Conformation lines as well as a Golden Retriever from Field lines. Additionally in the mix are Portuguese Water Dogs from the Working Group, Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Dachshunds from the Hound Group, Standard Poodles from the Non-Sporting Group, and a Boston Terrier from the Terrier Group.
Big dogs, little dogs, different body styles and coat types, all are doing well and thriving on CANIDAE. I can’t say enough how this food helps these dogs achieve their true potential. My catch phrase at my center is “Producing truly versatile dogs.” and this food has helped these dogs maintain energy levels to accomplish this.
We compete in all different venues in the American Kennel Club. Agility is our focus. But nearly all of the dogs are Conformation Champions as well and have been campaigned in the Conformation Ring with multiple Best of Breed and Group wins. I also compete in the hunting field with the retrievers, and in the Obedience ring, and the Rally ring with nearly everyone else.
We had some huge successes in 2009 alone:
“Magic”, Flat-Coated Retriever (CH MACH 6 Shasta Belstar Magic Happens JH, CDX, RA) earned both his MACH 5 and his MACH 6 to become the 3rd ever Flat Coated Retriever to earn this high level of Master Agility Champion. Magic is consistently ranked in the Top 5 Flat Coats in the Nation.
”Tripper”, Irish Red and White Setter (CH Affinity Day Tripper MX, MXJ, RN) earned both his Master Standard and Master Jumpers with Weaves Agility Titles to become the #1 Ranked Agility Red and White in the Nation. Tripper also won a GROUP 4 SPORTING GROUP at the Orange Empire KC in addition to his multiple Best of Breed wins to earn him a #2 Ranked Conformation Red and White in the Nation.
Tripper’s biggest win was at the Eukanuba National Invitational in Long Beach 2009 where he won BEST OF BREED to become the first Irish Red and White of record to earn these honors.
Thank you CANIDAE for helping these wonderful dogs achieve their true potential and become “truly versatile dogs”

Gemari’s Canaan Dogs
Gemari’s Canaan Dogs is proud to be a CANIDAE Sponsored Team. We have always used CANIDAE All Life Stages to provide the nutrition our pack needs during demanding development periods, maintenance periods, and for superior sustained performance during competition. We currently have nine Canaan Dogs that compete in AKC and UKC events and the results we have achieved for our entire Pack have been amazing.
AKC Ch/UKC (BIMBS) GRCH Cherrysh Sing So Into You, RN, CGC, ICDCA-ROM, VC-“Denver” has been on CANIDAE for over five years and is currently competing in AKC and UKC events. His accomplishments have earned him top honors in both Kennel Clubs and several mentions in breed history. Denver has also earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC’s Top Ten Competition. He is one of just a few Canaan Dogs to ever win a UKC Best In Multi-Breed Show and has also claimed three Reserve Best In Shows. He is the sire of two AKC Champions, one UKC Grand Champion, and four UKC Champions.
AKC/UKC Ch Bless-Ed Be My Neshama, CGC, ICDCA-ROMX, CDCA-ROM-“Shama” has been on CANIDAE for over four years. She is now five years old and has been competing in AKC and UKC events with Denver. Shama has won numerous AKC and UKC Best of Breeds, a UKC Group 1, and has had invitations to national championships. Shama is the dam of three AKC Champions, one UKC Grand Champion, and five UKC Champions.
AKC Ch/UKC GRCH Gemari’s 1st Hope-“Hope” is Denver and Shama’s daughter. She is two years old and has been on CANIDAE since she was able to eat solid foods. She began competing in AKC and UKC events at six months and has already earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC Top Ten Competition. Hope just became the third female to ever earn an AKC Championship and a UKC Grand Championship!
AKC/UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Chance-“Chance” is Denver and Shama’s son. He just turned two years old and has also been competing in AKC and UKC events since he was six months old. He has also earned invitations to national championships and to the UKC Top Ten Competition. Chance has earned many top awards in both Kennel Clubs.
We are also pleased to say that three other pack members have also earned their UKC Championship titles and have also won major awards during our National Specialty cluster shows. Among them are: UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Sunrise-“Sunny”, UKC Ch Gemari’s 1st Rose-“Rose”, and UKC Ch Cherrysh Star of Bethlehem-“Beth.” All of them are currently working towards their AKC Championships.
Beth became the dam of four in October. Her puppies have been on CANIDAE since they started stealing her food. We are very excited and look forward to reporting their accomplishments in our next update.
We are so convinced that CANIDAE has been a major part of our Pack’s success that we not only use it, but we recommend it to others.
Thank you for not only helping our Canaans reach their maximum potential, but for the dedication and support you provide to all of us and our companions.

Vom Altmark German Shepherds
Our family has had German Shepherds for over the last 30 years. Our children grew up with them. Now our grandchildren do not take a step without them. We chose to welcome our Mastiffs to the family over the last two years. Totally different breeds, yet now we know we will always have Mastiffs along with our beloved Shepherds. Both are loyal guardians yet different. Both breeds are devoted to us and the children.
Dogs and Photography are my passion. I have been truly blessed to incorporate the two. I do have some gorgeous models if I have to say so myself. It seems now when I bring out the camera they give me the look – “Again?”
On the high recommendation of a longtime breeder and friend we switched to CANIDAE ALS. That was almost 3 years ago. It did not take long to see a marked improvement in all of my dogs, mentally and physically.
Since we started on ALS we have not had any allergy or ear problems. Their coat and skin are gorgeous and subtle. Good muscle tone. Eyes are bright and their general health is excellent. Energy level is high. Plenty of good exercise, training, running, swimming in the lake and creek, plus helping us out around the property (so they think) helps keep them fit.
Of great importance to us is that we have raised our German Shepherd puppies and Mastiff puppies on ALS and we have not had any joint or growth problems that sometimes affect the two breeds. The dogs have had a very even growth pattern on ALS unlike the previous food they were on. They do not receive any supplements, nor do they eat anything other than ALS dog food and Snap Biscuits. It is apparent that nothing else is needed.
When people tell me my dogs look great and remark about their gorgeous soft coats – I always tell them I feed CANIDAE. I am a firm believer that Genetics play a strong role in your dogs over all health, yet good nutrition goes hand in hand. Our dogs are family and live as such. They deserve the best and we believe they are getting it with CANIDAE. I want to thank CANIDAE again for the excellent food they produce. I am grateful to my friend for recommending it. Now I tell others hoping they will give it a try. I am sure they will be glad they did.
Thanks again CANIDAE!
