Sales Specialist (DC/Virginia/Maryland) - view position


Summary of Position:

Sales Specialists are responsible for sales growth of CANIDAE’s entire product line at all Independent locations in their assigned territory.  Sales growth is achieved through utilizing their selling and communication skills as well as tools provided to educate Independent Store Partners in order to gain their recommendation.   This position will cover the DC, Maryland, and Virginia territory.

Responsibilities (Description of job duties required, but not limited to):

  • Develop intimate product line knowledge for the purpose of educating Independent Store Partners
  • Conducting seminars daily to ensure Independent Store Partners are educated on all CANIDAE products
  • Utilizing MEDAL as a guideline to promote sales growth of CANIDAE at all Independent locations
  • Communicate regularly with Independent district managers to develop strategies to grow sales at a district level
  • Conduct all necessary travel in order to ensure that all Independent accounts are seen based on decided routing and frequency plan (plane travel, over nights)
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, events and company meetings as required
  • Merchandise each Independent store for maximum CANIDAE presence which includes building displays, rotating stock, maintaining clean shelves, taking corrective action for out of stock situations, and ensure accurate pricing at all times which is consistent with Independent circular and PALS.
  • Work with CANIDAE sales and Independent Store Partners to drive sales growth by promoting team work
  • Represent CANIDAE in a professional manner at all times, observing company policies and guidelines
  • Complete call reports, expense reports, sales reports, and presentations in a timely and accurate manner
  • Develop intimate product line knowledge for the purpose of educating Independent Store Partners

Territory Sales Rep (Los Angeles/Orange County) - view position

Summary of Position: Territory Sales Reps are responsible for sales growth of CANIDAE’s entire product line at all Independent Pet Specialty Store locations in their assigned territory. Sales growth is achieved thru utilizing their selling, communication, and merchandising skills, as well as tools provided to educate Store Partners in order to gain their recommendation. The TSR is also responsible for increasing the account base within the territory, by bringing in additional stores, as CANIDAE retailers. The territory will cover Los Angeles and Orange County.
Responsibilities (Description of job duties required, but not limited to):

  • Developing intimate product line knowledge for the purpose of educating retailers and distributor counterparts.
  • Conducting seminars consistently to ensure retail staff and decision makers are educated on CANIDAE products.
  • Utilizing MEDAL as a guideline to promote sales growth of CANIDAE at all retail outlets.
  • Prioritizing key retail accounts within a territory and working with the District Sales Manager to develop and perform effective routing and call frequency strategy.
  • Conducting all necessary travel in order to ensure that all key retail accounts are seen based on decided routing and frequency plan (plane travel and overnights). This will include making 6 to 7 physical calls per day, with a typical day requiring 2 to 4 hours of driving time.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop new business within the territory.
  • Participating in trade shows, exhibitions, dog/cat shows, events and company meetings, as required. This will often require the physical set-up of a display booth, comprised of an easy-up tent, and large bags of CANIDAE products.
  • Merchandising at each retail store for maximum CANIDAE presence, which includes building displays, rotating stock, maintaining clean shelves, taking corrective action for out of stock situations and ensuring accurate pricing at all times.
  • Securing optimum location and working aggressively to expand assortment by category in each retail account.
  • Working with other CANIDAE Sales and Distributor Reps to drive sales growth by promoting team work, team cohesion and synergy.
  • Representing CANIDAE in a professional manner at all times, observing company policies and guidelines.
  • Responding to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Completing call reports, expense reports, sales reports, and presentations in a timely and accurate manner. This task can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours per night to complete.
  • Establishing, enhancing, building, and maintaining strong business relationships with our Retail Partners.
